It was heartbreak for Arsenal as the Premier League season came to an eventful end. Despite being within reach of the Premier League title on matchday 38, the Gunners came up two points short. Rivals Manchester City were crowned Premier League champions for a record fourth consecutive time.

Arsenal were up against Everton for their final matchday at the Emirates. The Gunners needed a win while also requiring City to drop points against West Ham United. Despite winning against Everton 2-1, City eased past their opponents 3-1, to claim the 8th title in their history. The result left Arsenal players heartbroken and visibly in tears.

Cameras captured a distraught Kai Havertz after the full time whistle. The Arsenal No.29 had a debut season to remember under Arteta, scoring 14 goals and setting up another 7 in all competitions.

It came as no surprise that Havertz felt heartbroken after missing out on the title by the finest of margins.

Bukayo Saka in tears after heartbreaking end to Premier League season

Bukayo Saka headlined the majority of Arsenal’s season thanks to his impressive performances and clutch goals. The 22-year-old scored 20 goals in all competitions while also setting up another 13 for his teammates. His goals against Tottenham Hotspur, Bayern Munich and Liverpool were crucial for their progress throughout the season.

After coming to know of Manchester City’s triumph, cameras spotted Saka in tears, taking it all in after the game. The youngster buried his face in his arms as he failed to control his emotions. Saka was unavailable for the game against Everton owing to a muscle injury suffered against Manchester United last week in a narrow 1-0 win.

Fans however, have consoled the player through texts and messages on social media. Many said that Arsenal wouldn’t have even been in this position had it not been for the No. 7.

Rival fans thoroughly ‘enjoyed’ Arsenal’s loss and made fun of their players’ reactions. The player is currently in recovery and will be available to play for England in the upcoming Euros.
